In a bid to keep the teams prepare for the new season, a newly established women’s association, Female Football Clubs Association of Nigeria, FEFCAN has concluded plan to organise preseason championship scheduled for May 19 through 26 at the United Sports Complex, Ikorodu, Lagos.
The female clubs expected to slug it out in a week event are Unification Queens, Dannaz Ladies, Papa Soccer Academy, Ablaze Amazons and Dynamic Queens.
Match cordinator, Oluwatobi Oyekan confirmed to our correspondent that the five teams were selected based on their football pedigree in female football in the state and noted that the pre season tourney would bring the best out of all teams.
Oyekan who doubles as FEFCAN president aslo disclosed that some of the selected teams are playing in premier, championship and nationwide league saying that the league would help the teams to assess their newly recruited players and also enable them to discover raw talents that may feature for them in the new season.
“This is the first of its kind in Lagos and it is going to happen in the city of Ikorodu.The association is newly established and they are doing everything to make female football growing more in the state.
“This is a good initiative and it is going to help the selected teams to prepare themselves for the new season. I wish all the teams best of luck in their outings, ” he said.
